Micro Needling Part - 1

WHAT IS DERMAPEN

Basically, a Dermapen is a small device that resembles a pen and is generally used for microneedling on people with skin issues and the end product is a tightened, rejuvenated and glowing skin. We get ask all the time what is Dermapen? Our answer is simple put a a very popular dermatology microneedling treatment device that has been embraced all over the world.  With over 6,000+ practitioners worldwide adding Dermapen to their practise specifically because of its effectiveness and efficiency when it comes to handling common skin problems like stretch marks, aging, wrinkles, fine lines, hair loss, acne scars, hyperpigmentation and so much more. Practitioners are constantly coming up with new treatments and ways to use the Dermapen micro needling pen.

HOW DERMAPEN REALLY WORKS

Dermapen employs the traditional Chinese technique for acupuncture only that here; the targeted result is not to reduce pain but rather to improve the skin appearance.
Basically, a Dermapen has 12 needles on the very tip and these 12 needles are the ones that are used to puncture the top layer of the skin as the Dermapen glides over the area being treated. Usually, the Dermapen will be positioned vertically over the skin and when it is turned on, a motor that is found inside the pen will start making the needles to move rapidly back and forth on the skin surface creating the punctures and these needles have been created in such a way that they can rotate in a slight way. These punctures created in the process are usually aimed at opening up the pores for a period of time only.

When a person hurts themselves, the skin will generally initiate skin repair by stimulating growth factors that will, in turn, lead to the generation of collagen and elastin. Therefore, when the punctures are made using the Dermapen, the skin will treat the punctures as wounds and therefore initiate healing. This means that micro-needling tend to trick the skin to produce collagen and elastin to promote ‘healing’ and the effect will be a rejuvenated skin.

Dermapen is used mostly for face wrinkles, scars, stretch marks and facial lines. When one is injured and the skin forms a scar, or if they have a stretch mark the body will treat these as though that area was repaired. Therefore having the punctures created in the scar tissue will cause the skin to initiate healing and, therefore, the damaged skin will tend to get eliminated and replaced with new skin. For wrinkles and face lines, basically, the produced collagen and elastin will cause the skin to thicken and also tighten leaving the skin looking youthful.

Generally, Dermapen has been effective and quite advantageous over other skin treatment procedures. This has seen to it that its popularity keeps growing by the day.

Treat Burn Scars WithDermapen Part - II

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL ASSISTED WITH MICRONEEDLING
The average person knows that tattoos can be removed by laser, but what they don’t know is that it isn’t nearly that simple, not by any stretch. For one thing tattoo removal is more painful—and certainly more trouble—than getting the tattoo was in the first place. The cost, hassle and discomfort will depend on the size of the tattoo and the ink colors involved. Black ink and shading will respond more readily than yellows and greens, although some laser wavelengths may still be effective. Also, some tattoos never fully fade away, while others are very resistant to treatment.

More than that, people tend to vastly underestimate the number of treatments it takes to get to the end. Laser manufacturers and some spas or laser treatment centers may claim to be able to remove a tattoo in five or six treatments. The actual number is more like 15 treatments on average, according to Kristen Ward, head esthetician and office manager at Aesthetica Medical Spa in Lindon, Utah. “People come in with unresolved tattoos and say someone else promised them removal in six sessions, and that’s just not the way it works,” she said. In truth, while some situations may exist where the size and color of the tattoo, the health of the individual and other factors come together to provide such an outcome in six sessions, it is not the norm or even close to it.

Enter Dermapen micro needling tattoo removal . About the size of a large felt tip marker, the easy-to-use handheld device features a disposable, sterile tip with an array of eleven surgical steel micro-needles for safe fractional dermal-needling. It is minimally-traumatic fractional micro-wounding via piston-driven needle oscillation is safe to use and may be of benefit to the session, according to Ward who is currently overseeing the device used in that manner—on herself. “I have a 1” by 5” tattoo that’s been resistant to lasers, so we decided to try using Dermapen first, in the hope that it might improve the results.” Confident in its safety, Ward—who is also the staff trainer for every device in the spa—had one of her estheticians use Dermapen on her tattoo immediately before applying normal laser treatment.

After applying topical anesthetic, the user performed three passes of Dermapen (1.5 mm depth, 90 Hz needle insertion speed) over the area. Afterward, a combination vitamin C and E cream was applied, with normal laser treatment soon after (using the Alex TriVantage from Syneron-Candela, 755 nm wavelength, 4.5 mJ, spot size 3). The difference was more than noticeable. “I would characterize the result as at least 60% better improvement than with laser alone in this case,” she said.

While at this stage the result is preliminary (though encouraging), and no actual histological study or analysis has been performed, Ward has a few theories about how Dermapen may be positively affecting the tattoo area. First, the holes in the epidermis created by Dermapen may improve the penetration of laser light and/or improve absorption of the wavelength by the target chromophore (tattoo ink). Another is that Dermapen may break up or otherwise affect more superficial ink that the laser isn’t treating.

“We adjust the spot size of the laser to treat different layers of implanted tattoo ink,” Ward explained, “and some ink may be too superficial to absorb enough energy to cause fracturing of the pigment for subsequent removal by the body’s natural waste removal processes. Dermapen may affect that layer of ink.” Another possibility is that because Dermapen wounding stimulates the healing and debris removal processes of the body, it may create a situation where this stimulation improves removal of fractured ink. “Simply put, fibroblasts are activated and they remove the particles of fractured ink, but only for so long. That’s why some of the tattoo removal result depends on the health of the individual, whose fibroblasts may activate in greater quantity and for a longer time than those of another person.” One, none, or any combination may be true and further study would be necessary before a real conclusion could be drawn.

Ultimately the hope is Dermapen might improve magnitude of outcomes possible with a single session, thus reducing the total number of sessions needed for clearance. It also may help fully resolve tattoos still mildly visible, even after numerous sessions. Ward will be able to tell you in several months. She’s continuing Dermapen of her previously resistant tattoo until it’s resolved. “I’m also going to have them work on another small tattoo I have as well and see how that goes,” she shared. Because of the success of the initial session with Dermapen, Ward expects to begin offering Dermapen-assisted tattoo removal by the end of 2013.

Micro Needling Part - II

Micro Needling Stretch Marks

Micro needling stretch marks with Dermapen have shown amazing results. Stretch marks result from shear forces on tightened skin. Stretch marks may result from pregnancy or other changes in the girth of limbs or the abdomen. Stretch marks are a form of a scar, which re-approximates the stretched skin surfaces.

In a word, YES. We have incredible Before & After pictures of Dermapen micro needling stretch marks. The picture below shows micro needling stretch marks applied to one half a large area of stretch marks, with the other half untreated. The results can be dramatic.

Micro needling stretch marks is safe and effective way to reduce the appearance of stretch marks. As well all know stretch marks result from shear forces on tightened skin. Stretch marks may result from pregnancy or other changes in the girth of limbs or the abdomen. Stretch marks or Striae Distensae, are tears to the connective tissue of the skin caused by rapid growth or over-stretching of the skin. When the connective tissue is stretched and tears, epidermal atrophy along the tear results. The epidermis becomes thin and loses it ridges. The elastic fibers break and retract.

Stretch marks are a form of scarring similar to the healing after a wound separation or scar tissue, a process which re-approximates the stretched skin surfaces. Micro needling stretch marks helps to thicken the skin over stretch marks restoring the contours of the epidermal surface.

What causes a surgical scar?

A surgical scar is a type of injury to flesh caused by surgery, usually an incision, that requires the modification of all layers. Because a surgeon cannot control all the factors that determine the appearance of a scar, treatment after the surgical area has properly healed is sometimes necessary.
The challenge with surgical scars lie within the matrix of all the forms or categories of scars involving hypertrophic and keloid scars and pigmentation flaws. These scars thicken over time. Scar therapy has been historically limited. The Dermapen’s unique vertical stamping and depth control, up to 2.5mm, helps alleviate the appearance of surgical scars and can be a better modality to other methods or rollering. With surgical steel integrity, the robust nature of the automated needle tip (12 needles total and sized at thirty-three gauge) penetrate difficult scar tissue, dramatically improving appearance, texture, elasticity, size and mobility.

Microneedling Surgical Scar Regimen

Scars have altered physiology compared to other skin conditions. Multiple Dermapen microneedling treatments is recommended and may vary depending on the severity and type of surgical scar. Consult your Dermapen physician about the best course of action for your particular surgery scars.

Micro Needling Eyebrows Near Me

Enter the MDerma Pen Technology

The MDerma™ uses sterile, sealed individual and disposable needle cartridges for optimal patient safety. Every cartridge has multiple needles, with proprietary technology, penetrating vertically generating small micro skin channels, while stimulating the natural production of collagen. These channels carry up to 80% more topical nutrients, allowing penetration deep to the skin fibroblasts, feeding the cells found in the dermis and the basal layer. This increases the absorption of active ingredients into the skin, stimulating the repair at a cellular level and accelerating the regeneration of the skin’s epidermal cells.

The treatment is similar to laser treatments, but without the severe side effects or the long recovery time. There are some studies that show it is more effective than traditional microdermabrasion and chemical peels. The disposable needles reduces the risk of cross-contamination and the adjustable depth allows treatment that is adaptable to individual needs.

MDerma™ is so advanced, it is appropriate and recommended to use in sensitive and previously inaccessible areas such as the upper and lower eyes, lips and nose.

"I have been utilizing the Dermapen in my practice over the last two years. Recently I was able to try the new tip with the scalloped edge. Wow! Words cannot express how happy I was with the new tip. The scalloped tip glides easily over the skin with no dragging or catching. This tip by far exceeds my expectations! With this new improved tip the treatment is much more enjoyable for the patient! Great work Dermapen!" - Trina Nesselrotte,LE,CMLT
